BIU accounts now open to the public
The Bermuda Industrial Union has filed ten years of its accounts with Government meaning the union’s audited annual financial statements from 2000 to 2009 are now open to the public.Anyone is now free to check paperwork for the BIU’s income, spending and funds for those years, at the Registry General office on the first floor of the Government Administration Building. The BIU filed its overdue accounts for 2003 to 2009 back in September, but the information could not be made public until statements for 2000 through 2002 were provided as well. The move was last night commended by new One Bermuda Alliance Senator Michael Fahy, who long campaigned for the release of the information.Mr Fahy said: “The BIU has made huge contributions to Bermuda and assisted many members from its formation to date. It was unfortunate that members had to wait for so long for up to date accounts, but should now be pleased this has occurred.”
