The proponents behind the Mirrors Programme have cast the net far and wide to garner 200 volunteers within the next few weeks.According to Volunteer Enrolment Manager Carla Zuill, it doesn’t matter if you are male or female, all that’s needed is a willingness to “donate your time to help a young person in Bermuda realise their goals”.Anyone over the age of 21 who has 30 minutes a week to spare would be welcome for consideration to assist in two major areas.“We are looking for 100 volunteers for our Coaching For Success programme, which is based at The Whitney Institute and Sandys Secondary Middle School,” said Ms Zuill.Volunteers are also needed for Youth Enrolment plus the Residential and Committed Partner components of the programme. Ms Zuill noted: “They each have different time commitments and training will be given in all areas prior to commencement.”The Mirrors Programme was established in 2007 as “the Government’s response to the increase in antisocial behaviour which was being displayed by Bermuda’s youth”.A spokesperson noted that as the programme evolved, “it was discovered that it was a personal development programme capable of supporting all people in Bermuda”.In a statement released yesterday Ms Zuill concluded: “I hope our island residents offer their unwavering support in order for us to continue to make a difference in young people’s lives.“Weekly orientations are held in our boardroom Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm and we are also able to hold them at your establishment upon request,” she added.For more information call 294-9295 or e-mail clzuill@gov.bm.
