New DJ appointed after NSC debacle

Bermuda Football Association have acquired the services of a new disc jockey who will be responsible for the playing of the national anthems prior to Sunday?s World Cup first round qualifying match between Bermuda and Montserrat at the National Sports Centre.

Embassy Crew have been given the job following the sensational firing of previous DJ Andre Rochester who created a furore when he played the wrong anthem during Trinidad and Tobago?s tour of the Island earlier this month.

Players, team officials and fans were all shocked when prior to the start of the second match between the two sides the ?Star Spangled Banner? blared out from Stadium speakers. Rochester was promptly dismissed by an infuriated BFA president, Larry Mussenden.

Embassy Crew will now work under the directorship of Trinidadian match commissioner Francis Cezair who is responsible for all details with regards to the actual running of the match.

?Mr. Rochester has been relieved of any further sound engineering duties as per the instructions of the BFA president (Mussenden),? confirmed BFA general secretary David Sabir yesterday.

?Now we have Embassy Crew who will be responsible for the sound system at the National Sports Centre on Sunday. The playing of the national anthems will be done under the match commissioner (Cezair). This is a World Cup qualifier and so the match commissioner is going to be responsible for all the details.?

Given Bermuda and Montserrat are both British dependent territories, Sabir could not confirm yesterday whether or not ?God Save the Queen? would be played twice, the BFA executive stating: ?Again that will be decided by the official match commissioner.?
