The writ was filed with the Supreme Court late last week, but did not list the amount of damages sought.

Mr. Crane earlier this month threatened to sue the Hospitals Board for wrongful dismissal and the Bermuda Broadcasting Company for libel when they aired a report saying he had been fired for misconduct.

Bermuda Broadcasting quickly aired an apology at the top of their evening television news and, to date, no writ has been filed against them.

Mr. Crane's lawyer, Juliana Jack, revealed that following a 14-day notice she heard nothing from the hospital.

"They have made no attempt to contact us, we have heard absolutely nothing from them at all,'' she said.

Mr. Crane has said the hospital bosses told him they were not satisfied with the way he managed projects and complained that they often came in over budget.

The letter also threatened a law suit if Mr. Crane was not paid six months' salary in lieu of notice and his accrued holiday pay of 11 weeks.
