Man remanded for having stolen camera

A Smith?s resident who admitted receiving stolen goods was remanded in custody when he appeared in court yesterday.

Keith Angelo Trott, of Ramgoat Hill, pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving a stolen video camera, worth nearly $800. The court heard the camera was taken in a raid on a Smith?s house that saw electrical goods worth more than $3,000 swiped between September 29 and October 1, included two laptop computers and a digital camera.

Trott denied any involvement in the burglary, but was searched by Police on October 1 and found with the camera. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner called for reports to be carried out on the defendant, for sentencing on November 24.

Mr. Warner told Trott: ?Those that receive are just as culpable as those that steal, because if there were no receivers nobody would steal.?
