Christmas comes early at Whitney Institute
A Smith’s school got a learning boost with a gift of 30 laptops from the Green family, owners of the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club.
The computers, for writing, data analysis and art, were delivered to the Whitney Institute Middle School last week, and will be loaned for pupils in need to use for remote learning.
The donation, received by school principal Reeshemah Swan, came through the Green family’s partnership with the school for the 2020-21 academic year.
The HP Chromebook computers have 14in screens and can double as tablets. The machines will be used in Whitney classrooms once in-school learning resumes.
Ms Swan gave “heartfelt thanks to the Greens for their generosity”.
She added: “We are currently operating in challenging times, and these laptops will greatly assist our teachers in meeting the needs and demands of our students.
“We are excited, and look forward to working with the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club as their public school partners for the 2020-21 academic year. It truly takes a village to raise a child.”
Andrew Green, speaking on behalf of the family, said: “Education is incredibly important to us, and we believe it has the power to change the world.
“We hope that these Chromebooks empower Whitney’s students and enable their teachers to utilise new ways of engaging and illuminating their subject areas.”
