Gravel ship in short visit

As the weather gradually improves, thousands of tourists will be arriving on the Island by cruise ship.

The Norwegian Majesty arrived on Monday with 1,599 passengers at Ordinance Island in St. George's.

They will return to Charleston on Thursday at 11.30 a.m.

Yesterday evening, the Explorer of the Seas left the Island for New York after bringing 3,419 tourists to Dockyard on Monday at 8.50 a.m.

The cruise ship, Norwegian Dream arrived from Boston on Monday at 11.30 a.m. and is currently docked at Pennos Wharf.

The ship, along with 1,727 passengers, will leave the Island at noon on Friday.

The Norwegian Dawn arrives in Dockyard tomorrow and plans to stay until Friday at 5 p.m. The cruise ship is carrying 2,304 passengers on board.

Two vessels are expected on the Island later this week.

The Malmnes, which will arrive on Friday at noon from Aulds Cove, Nova Scotia, will work at discharging gravel at Pennos Wharf.

In addition, Bermuda Islander will arrive on Thursday at 8.15 a.m. carrying 144 containers, including 25 refrigerated ones.

Led by Captain Rob Kooistra of Holland and his nine-crew members, the Islander is set to drop off seven tanks, three trailers and one boat on a cradle, before leaving for Salem, New Jersey on Friday at 8.15 a.m.

The Somers Isle arrived at 8.30 a.m. yesterday from Fernandina Beach, Florida.

In total, the vessel dropped off 157 containers, including three boats, a truck and a Caterpillar tractor.

The Oleander arrived on Sunday carrying 185 containers, including 54 refrigerated ones. In addition, the freighter was carrying five road trailers, a car, a minibus and one mafi.

The Oleander left the Island yesterday at 8.05 a.m.
