Yearwood ends Carifta Championships on a high

Ashley Yearwood claimed Bermuda’s first medal at the Carifta Swimming Championships when she took bronze in the girls’15-17 50 metres freestyle finals.Yearwood posted a time of 27.55 seconds in a race which saw Chinyere Pigot set a new record time of 26.12 seconds.Three other Bermuda swimmers raced in individual finals on the last day of the competition. Jesse Washington was eighth in his 50 metres freestle event, while Erica Hawley and Tyler Smith raced in their respective 200 metre backstroke finals and both finished seventh.The Island’s participation in the championships ended with both boys’ and girls’ relay teams finishing seventh in the 200 metres freestyle.
