Bermudian entertainers and Welsh street performers will celebrate Bermuda's heritage -- juggling, joking, dancing and uni-cycling through crowds which could reach 5,000 between 3 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. on October 14.

The Welsh performers of the Nofit State Circus will also perform a fire act during a stage show in the evening.

Those attending will include Environment Minister Arthur Hodgson, the Governor Thorold Masefield and his wife, Jennifer.

Festival organiser W.A. (Toppy) Cowen said they wanted to try something new and keep the festival fresh.

"If you do it over and over it might lose its lustre -- people might get bored,'' he said.

"A number of charities are involved, such as the Bermuda Red Cross and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bermuda.'' Activities will include a parade by the Bermuda Regiment and Places' Gombeys, as well as stage performances by Somers Isles Jazz Band and Bermuda Institute Steel Pans.

The festival coincides with the opening of a new Caribbean Exhibit at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo. It will be open after 12 noon and the entry is free.

Event sponsors include Bank of Bermuda, Butterfield and Vallis, Department of Tourism and Kitson and Co.

Nofit State Circus will also perform at the last Harbour Night on October 11 and will give a workshop at Whitney Institute on October 13.
