Tourism Minister promotes Island cuisine at James Beard House
Bermuda cooking has been served to New York by Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert in his first North American visit promoting travel to the Island.Along with celebrity chef Juan-Claude Garzia and his culinary team, the Minister brought local dishes, including Bermuda Fish Cakes, to the kitchen of the city’s James Beard House.The House was founded in memory of the famed US chef and food writer, who died in 1985.Local flavours such as a Bermuda salsa, and Chilled Loquat Soufflé, also featured on the menu, served before more than 50 guests from the media, travel agents and meeting planners.Said the Minister: “They were all understandably impressed by the outstanding cuisine presented by Chef Garzia and came away with a very positive opinion of not only the Island but the type of world-class culinary experiences they can expect to find here.”Mr Furbert also spoke on CBS radio’s Dan Taylor Morning Show.
