Christopher Anthony James pleaded guilty before Acting Magistrate Kim Wilson who said that while mindful of the mitigation lawyer Richard Hector gave in his behalf, she had to punish him for having the drugs.

Crown counsel Wayne Caines said James, 20, was searched by Police at 2.45 a.m.

on August 29 near his home on Union Lane, because he showed "furtive behaviour'' when they swooped in.

Police had received a tip that drugs were being sold in the area and when they searched James found a brown twist of paper containing a white powder in his jacket. The powder was later found to be cocaine.

Mr. Hector told Ms Wilson: "He's 20 years old and as I understand has no previous convictions and he is trying to better himself by going to school.''
