Social inquiry report ordered for man who had cannabis

A 23-year-old Warwick man admitted in Magistrates’ Court to possessing seven grams of cannabis.Prosecutor Cindy Clarke said that Norris Wilkinson of Fairway Drive was riding along North Shore Road, Pembroke when he was stopped near First Church of God by police conducting random checks.Officers searched Wilkinson and found a plastic bag of plant like material in his jacket pocket.A later check confirmed that the substance was 7 .03 grams of cannabis. The defendant told the police, “this is b******t”.In court, defence lawyer Kenrick James argued that Wilkinson, a Dunkley’s Dairy employee, had just a small amount of cannabis and that it was only for personal use.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report and set the matter to November 15 for sentencing.
