Big-hitter Tim heading south
Big-hitting amateur golfers Tim James and Andrew Bissell will get chance to flex their muscles with the Caribbean's heavy hitters after they came out tops in the annual Re/Max Long Drive contest at St. George's Golf Course on Saturday.
James led allcomers with a thunderous drive of 330 yards to take the $500 first prize while Bissell was just three yards behind with a booming tee shot of 327 yards.
They have now earned entry to this weekend's Re/Max regional qualifier in the Turks and Caicos from which the winners will go on to the world long drive finals in Las Vegas.
Just missing out on an invitation for the trip south was Philip (Billy Joe) Pitcher who sent his longest hit at the second hole 321 yards down the fairway to place third overall.
Top woman was Charlene Brown who blasted her best drive 239 yards while leading senior Derwin Smith was measured at 265 yards.
Smith then got chance to win a cool million dollars when his name was drawn not once but twice out of a hat to determine which players would be able to shoot for a hole-in-one jackpot.
He thus got two opportunities to fire for the huge cash prize but on both occasions missed the green.
