Richardson’s first comedy show to feature Bobby J

Bobby J: Star of the #Rated comedy show on August 23

With all the doom and gloom caused by crime and unemployment on the Island, sometimes a little laughter can be the perfect medicine for the soul.So believes event planner and producer Sabrina Richardson, who will be introducing her first ever comedy show ‘#Rated’, featuring overseas comedian Bobby J, at City Hall next Friday, August 23.Ms Richardson said: “The show will include local comedy from my favourite [local] performers Nadanja Bailey and Jah Simmons, while the headliner is Bobby J, out of Kansas City. “Our Bermuda Idol winner Latosha Coddrington will open up the show with her amazing vocals.”The show will be hosted by ‘Jah’, which promises to give the audience a good laugh.Ms Richardson said: “I’ve been made to realise that friends and friends of friends look forward to my birthday parties every year, which I’ve put on for the past five years and every year I challenge myself to go bigger.“I’ve patronised comedy shows on Island put on by locals, and thought ‘Why can’t I?’ Between that and me just being a huge fan of comedy was my inspiration.”Bobby J is expected to bring a raw style of performance that is not suitable for children and young audiences.“This will not be a #RATED G production,” Ms Richardson said.“Bobby J has a raw and real talk style of comedy that will surely have people rolling out of their seats! That along with the crazy funny antics that we have grown to love from our own Nadanja and Jah. It should be a great time!”The event producer said the line-up should keep the audience entertained all night. She said: “I expect great things with the formula of comedians I have lined up. I would like everyone walking away with their sides hurting from laughter.“#RATED will be top notch! I feel very confident as I started my planning early in case ‘hiccups’ arise, as they have.“I bounce back quickly though. The response so far has been amazing, which makes me feel good!”“The comedians are ready and excited to put on a great show as am I, and we are just hopeful that Bermuda comes out to show support while at the same time enjoying themselves.” Tickets are on sale for $40 and can be purchased at Secrets (upstairs of Washington Mall) and Kit ‘N’ Caboodle.
