Capital G to launch new banking system

Capital G will launch a new banking system on Monday, saying customers will be able to enjoy an improved banking service.

With Finacle, by Infosys, at the core of the bank's interface, Capital G said it will be able to provide more innovative products, improve customer account information access and integrate various networks and platforms into one seamless system.

Capital G customers will have a new online personal and business banking system, personal and business chequing accounts, enhanced personal and business banking products, customer service improvements and integrated wealth management services.

"The Finacle system will allow for straight through processing primarily supporting trade finance, treasury and money movement via SWIFT, improved revolving lines of credit and overdraft functionality, centralised customer information files, enhanced and fully integrated customer relationship management capabilities and much more," said Richard Doughty, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Capital G Bank.

"A great deal of planning has taken place to minimise any inconveniences to our customers.

"A great deal of user acceptance testing, staff training and customer communication has taken place to get us to this point."

John Kephart, president and CEO of Capital G Bank, said: "Moving clients from one system to another successfully is our challenge and one we have trained our staff to do quickly and efficiently.

"As in any conversion there are certain types of information to be moved that may require the clients' involvement and we have staff ready to assist with that task.

"Our call centre and banking staff are available on extended hours to ensure every client gets the information and assistance they need to begin using the new system."

Prior to Monday's launch, Capital G will conduct a full system conversion beginning this evening.

During that time, the personal banking online service will be out between today at 2 p.m. to Sunday evening, the Capital G branch in Reid Street will be closed tomorrow between 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., while debit cards will be reduced to combined daily limits of $500 for ATM and point of sale transactions from today at 3 p.m. to midnight on Sunday.

Other changes include changing all existing Capital G account numbers to ten-digit numbers.

In terms of online banking, there will be an outage from 2 p.m. today, with service resuming on Sunday evening, and customers are encouraged to make any payments or transfers they will need to make over the weekend before this time.

Also if the customer needs to view their account history they should record it before the new system implementation as it will no longer be available on the new system.

Customers' new password will be automatically generated and emailed to them on Sunday September 21.

When logging on for the first time customers will need to update their Passmark® authentication system by selecting new pictures and challenge questions.

Capital G will send customers the last statement from the previous system and the first statement for the new system together to verify that their balances have been transferred to the new system accurately.

The bank's staff will be on hand to answer any queries on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 8 p.m. by calling 296-6969 or by e-mailing innovate@capitalg.bm
