Health Plan changes loom
April 25, 2011Dear Sir,Can you explain why the subject of the National Health Plan 2011 nor, indeed, any reference to it, appeared in today’s issue of The Royal Gazette?I scoured all 40 pages of the paper twice to be sure that I hadn’t missed the article, notification or advertisement, but to no avail the subject did not seem to be as important as albeit very distressing news on the future of our pensions, Jinx Darrell being discharged by the Magistrate and the somewhat better news on the Royal wedding.I wonder if those youngsters “jumping for joy” shown on the front page, will still be jumping for joy in 15 years time when they may very well have to pay out 75 cents of every dollar they earn to the Government? That is, of course, if they have been prepared by our presently pathetic educational system to get a job that will be able to sustain them.Since the Government has seen fit to push this “plan” through at break-neck speed by April 30 (for public feedback) as low-key as they possibly can to avoid the public outcry, which it will surely bring, perhaps your paper would see fit to get across to all hard-working Bermudians what is actually looming over our heads and will be “all over but the shoutin’” by August 2011.SHARON DAVISPembroke
