Bermuda’s Rebecca Heyliger has been awarded the coveted award of Swim Student-Athlete of the month at the University of Southern California.The USC Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) Programme is “committed to providing the necessary support to assist all student-athletes in reaching their full potential academically, personally and professionally.”Ben Smith, Bermuda national swim coach, said: “This is a wonderful achievement for Rebecca who constantly works so hard to achieve her goals. It is very well deserved and I am sure she will continue to do extremely well in both her studies and her swimming.”Heyliger is a freshman, majoring in international relations/global business and has been a longtime member of the Bermuda national swim team.Among her other awards are the Bermuda Outstanding Teen in Sports in 2010 and the Sports R Us Athlete of the Year in 2008 and 2009.She was also on her school’s Honour Roll from 2007-2010 and represented Bermuda at the Carifta AquatIcs Championships and was a team captain in 2010.
