Trash collection resumed yesterday morning with Waste Management workers concentrating their efforts on the East End of the Island.

The waste disposal team began in St. George's and worked towards Hamilton Parish, Bailey's Bay, Shelly Bay and Pembroke with several zones being completed.

Solid Waste manager Allan Hunt said once those areas were cleared of trash, workers would focus on the West End.

The team worked until 8 p.m. last night and will resume work early this morning.

Meantime, the Ministry of Works and Engineering and Housing yesterday informed Islanders that trash collection will return to its normal two-day collection next week, but only main roads and artery roads will be serviced.

A further assessment of the accessibility of private estate roads will determine whether trash collection will completely return to its regular schedule.

The Ministry has also advised that the horticultural waste drop site on South Road, Warwick, opposite the entrance to Warwick Long Bay, has been closed. Instead the public is being asked to take their horticultural waste to the Marsh Folly Composting Facility for disposal.

The Composting Facility will be open from 7.30 a.m. to noon and will re-open from 1 p.m. through 5 p.m.

The Waste Management Department has also advised that a new temporary horticultural waste drop off site is now open near the Number One Gate for St. George's residents. This facility opens this morning at 8 a.m. until 7.30 p.m. and will be open until further notice.
