Community Relations Officer, Sgt. John Dale warned people not to drink in public places but stick to the many licensed premises around King's Square.
And he also warned about drinking and driving with the Police especially on the lookout for offenders.
Police are expecting thousands of locals and visitors to congregate in the square to celebrate the beginning of 1993.
There will be no parking on the square, but spaces will be available on Penno's Wharf and in the Caribbean Lounge car park behind Belco.
HOLIDAY TRASH PIC-UP A SUCCESS TSH Holiday trash pic-up a success Christmas trash collecting has been hailed a big success by the Works and Engineering Ministry.
People were not thrown by the holiday schedule, said Mr. Dan Hoornweg, Government's solid waste manager.
"It went fine -- much better than we expected. There were a lot of recyclables over Christmas with all the beverage containers.'' Mr. Hoornweg reminded residents there would be no collection of garbage and recyclables on New Year's Day.
Instead, collecting will be on Saturday. Residents should place their bags out by 7.30 a.m.
Mr. Hoornweg said there would also be a January 12-16 Christmas tree collection service.
Trees will be collected on the same day as garbage and recyclables.
`CAT' MISSING SLG `Cat' missing Ships in Bermuda are on the look-out for a missing 42ft catamaran with three people on board.
The vessel, which left Rhode Island on December 8, has not arrived as expected at the Caribbean island of Martinique.
The New York Coastguard has been put on the alert, a Harbour Radio spokesman said yesterday.
"The vessel is overdue, although I'm not sure by how much,'' he added.
TEEN ANNIVERSARY ANN Teen anniversary Bermuda's Youth Health Education Development (YHED) services will celebrate its 25th anniversary with the arrival of the New Year. Several events are planned to mark the milestone beginning with a special reception for all those who have benefitted from the organisation.
"The aim is to reunite former students, teachers, parents, teen award recipients, counsellors and volunteers,'' a Government spokesperson said yesterday.
"YHED first opened its door in 1967 to provide continuing education for teen girls and teenage mothers who were forced to leave school. Two years later, the programme gained financial support from Government.'' Today, the agency provides counselling for teenagers, continuing education for school age mothers, residential accommodations for women in need and community programmes such as the annually-held Teen Conference.

CARS RECOVERED CRM Cars recovered Two stolen cars were recovered on Monday, Police said.
A white Toyota -- licence plate L1823 -- was found undamaged by Police on Pitts Bay Road, near the Bacardi International Building. And a white Lancer -- licence plate 26755 -- was recovered by the owner.
