Mallory, who beat James Collieson in draining heat at Pomander Gate to win the Colonial Open last Saturday, also won this year's Heineken Open and is the number one seed again at Port Royal.

Mallory's men's doubles partner Jenson Bascome is seeded two.

In the ladies' singles, 18-year-old Danielle Paynter will be looking to go one better than last week, when she finished runner-up to Jill Finnigan in the Colonial.

With Finnigan only playing doubles at Port Royal, Paynter is seeded one, with Laverne Stowe two and 15-year-old Zarah DeSilva, ladies' B winner at Pomander Gate, seeded three.

The two number one seeds, Mallory and Paynter, will team up to play in the mixed doubles, which they are favourites to win, while DeSilva will team up with Bascome and Stowe with Stuart Smith.

In the ladies' doubles, Finnigan and Kelly Holland will be looking to repeat their Colonial Open victory, as will Mallory and Bascome in the men's event.

Both pairs are seeded one.

The tournament was due to open yesterday, but the start was put back until today to allow more entries to come in.

Bermuda's top young tennis players will battle it out in the Junior Grand Prix Masters Invitational tournament at the Tennis Stadium this week.

The top six performers in each age group in the four preceding Junior Grand Prix events have earned their places in the tournament, while some overseas-based juniors, home for the summer, have been granted wild cards.

Play started yesterday and the 10-and-under boys and girls finals will take place this morning. Amanda Burns will take on Chelsea Trott in the girls' final, while Kris Frick and Wills Fallon battle it out for the boys' title.

Today will also see action in the 12-and-under girls round robin, in which Zoe Fisher starts favourite to win, and the 12-and-under boys round robin, in which Kyle Williams is the highest ranked player.

Ryan Swan will start favourite for the 14-and-under boys' title when he starts his campaign in round robin play today.

The top ranked players in the other age groups are Sasha Fisher (girls 14-and-under), Zarah DeSilva (girls 18-and-under), and Craig Bean (18-and-under boys).
