Brewery goes plastic
by this summer intend to have all their beer products in reusable plastic crates.
Company vice president Philip Mason said the new packaging aims to reduce solid waste from cardboard by as much as 75 percent, and totally eliminate it at on premise restaurants, such as bars, restaurants and hotels.
He said, "We were looking for a way of reducing Bermuda's dependence on cardboard packaging, but still provide an appealing and convenient package to both our on and off premise accounts, and ultimately the consumer.
"The six-pack neck hangar package was developed in the US specifically for micro breweries who do much of their packaging by hand.'' Triangle Brewing initially brought in 300 plastic beer crates from Europe for internal use at the brewery. The introduction of Hammerhead Stout in mid 1996 presented an opportunity to test the market's acceptance to delivering beer in reusable crates.
The brewery intends to expand the programme to their other four brands this summer, as their stocks become depleted.
