Did they have work permits?
October 19, 2011Dear Sir,I was awe-struck when I turned to Page 11 of your issue of October 19, 2011. There it was stated that 75 passengers from the cruise ship Aida had toured Bermuda using “peddle power”. What greater news could there be, in these days when “loaves and fishes” campaigns are being organised in the Island? One would have expected the public coffers to have been swollen by the work permit fees paid by that cycling horde. But that was not the case, because somebody had fouled up. Those 75 passengers had not gone from house to house trying to sell small articles. They pedalled their cycles in touring Bermuda. Perhaps, on their return to Bermuda in a fortnight, they will bring goods for sale and each obtain a Pedlar’s Licence.EDWARD I KINGCity of Hamilton
