Legendary Whispers to open Music Festival '08
The Whispers will headline tonight as the first act of the Bermuda Music Festival '08.

Warming up the crowds for audiences will be the Paradise Band and the Warner Gombey Troupe. The event will be emceed by none other than Dick Gregory
The Whispers have produced a string of hits over the last four decades and emerged as the leading romantic singers of their generation, racking up one gold album after another and charting numerous R&B hits, including 'Rock Steady', 'And the Beat Goes On', 'A Song For Donny', 'Say Yes', and 'It's a Love Thing'.
They have received awards from the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Bay Area Blues Society, the San Francisco Regional Grammy Chapter and more. They are arguably the most celebrated R&B balladeers of their generation and still make women swoon with their silky yet forceful tenors of twins Walter and Scotty.
The group has released a new CD and a video of their live concert.
They still perform around the world to thousands of loyal fans. The group has not made any personnel changes and still consists of Walter Scott, Wallace Scott, Nicholas Caldwell, and Leaveil Degree.
The Whispers are one of only a few 'old school' groups that can boast of having more than 40 years in the industry with a worldwide fan base, maintaining their vocal dominance and original members.
Their career highlights include seven gold albums, two platinum albums, 12 top twenty singles, 40 charted hits, Grammy nominations, Soul Train Award nominations, American Music Award nominations, and four Decades of Pop & R & B Favourites.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and showtime is at 6.30 p.m..
