Victor Scott celebrates 65th anniversary
A Service of Thanksgiving was held last weekend to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Central/Victor Scott School.
Last Sunday past and present students of the Central/Victor Scott school joined Premier Pamela Gordon, Opposition Leader Jennifer Smith and other dignitaries for a service at the St. Paul's AME Church in Hamilton.
The congregation was treated to stories about the school from former pupils and teachers.
The programme also included performances by the school choir, scripture readings by the Cabinet Secretary Leopold Mills and an address by Dr. Vernon G. Lambe Sr. pastor of First Church of God on North Shore Road in Pembroke.
Rev. Lambe told the congregation: "As we stand on the threshold of the 21st century let us not recoil from change, but accept it, particularly as it relates to the so-called mega school.
"Remember that Central or Victor Scott School was in its day a mega school,'' he pointed out. "Let us commit ourselves to providing every opportunity and facility to bring our youth to their full potential.''
