Most of the events will take place on Clearwater Beach at the Base.

EXTRA SUMMER DAY CAMPS ANNOUNCED GVT Extra summer day camps announced Working parents have an extra chance to send their children to summer day camps.

Usually Government only provides summer day camps in July, but because the recession has forced many parents cancel holidays, camps are being organised for August too.

"Government perceives there may be a need for additional child care facilities throughout August, especially for those families whose planned August holidays are being curtailed,'' said Youth and Sport Minister the Hon.

Pamela Gordon.

The camps will run Monday to Friday at West End Primary, West Pembroke School and St. George's Secondary. Each centre will hold 200 children and will close at 5.30 p.m. Fees are $35 per child per week.

Places are available from the Ministry on a first-come-first-served basis. If insufficient interest is shown by July 17, the camps will be cancelled.

BERMUDIANS MADE HEAD OF CTO APP Bermudians made head of CTO Bermudian Mr. Michael Williams has been appointed president of the Caribbean Hotel Association after 15 years as a director.

Mr. Williams, senior vice-president of Resorts International in the Bahamas, plans to work with the Caribbean Tourist Organisation in marketing the region as a single destination.

He is the son of former Director of Tourism and Cabinet Secretary Mr. W.J.

(Jimmy) Williams.

Local hotels belong to the CHA, but Bermuda is not a CTO member.

Mr. Williams, who lives in the Bahamas with his Guyana-born wife Joy, is a supporter of making tourism more environment-conscious.

MAN ADMITS USING STOLEN CASH CARD CTS Man admits using stolen cash card A Warwick man who stole $200 after finding an automatic teller machine card left in a machine -- with the identification number still activated -- was this week fined $250 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Patrick R. Buloch, 26, Pearmans Hill, pleaded guilty to stealing an ATM card and then taking $200.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said on March 25, a woman used the automatic teller machine on the second floor of Windsor Place in Hamilton.

"She entered her identification number and made her transaction,'' Insp.

Duffy said. "When leaving the area she forgot to deactivate her ID number and take her card.

"Later on, when the woman went to her bank to check her account, she realised that $200 was missing which led to her discovery that her card was also gone.'' Buloch admitted finding the card with the ID number still activated but said he threw it down a drain.

Insp. Duffy said Buloch returned the $200 to the woman. Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis fined him $250.

CHURCH INTRUDER ADMITS THEFTS CTS Church intruder admits thefts A 19-year-old Pembroke man this week pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to three theft charges, including an attempt to steal from the First Church of God in Pembroke.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said on Thursday that Malik Outerbridge and others not before the court were seen exiting a window at the First Church of God on North Shore on June 1. Nothing was stolen Outerbridge was also identified by a woman who reported that two pairs of jeans, two T-shirts and six pairs of socks valued at $150 disappeared from her clothes line between June 13 and 14.

He also admitted stealing a pair of $79 black Adidas sneakers from the Foot Locker shoe store on Queen Street on June 25. The clothes were recovered.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered a social inquiry report for September 16.
