Strong start for Swan and Rimes
Bermuda’s Kevin Swan and American Dara Rimes led the men’s and women’s divisions at the Bermuda Rendevous Bowling Tournament at Warwick Lanes at press time last night.
Swan held a four-point advantage over nearest rival Rickai Binns after rolling a 737 series. In third was Steven Riley on 730 followed by Renalda Bean on 708 and Lamar Richardson on 705.
Rimes, one of 35 bowlers that have flown in from the United States to participate, led the women’s field by a comfortable eleven point margin after rolling a 688 series.
In second was Bermuda’s Bobbie Jones on 677 followed by American Michele Brown who carded a 635, local Patrice Tucker on 620 and American Pat Wiley who rolled a 617.
The top five bowlers in the men’s and women’s divisions will advance to today’s roll off for cash prizes. The handicap tournament concludes today.
Last week’s winter storm in the United States resulted in seventeen bowlers withdrawing from this year’s event that promised a record entry.
