A football clinic donated $250 to Dellwood Middle School to help ensure all students can be kitted out in the correct uniform.Skillz ‘n’ Drillz leader Kevin Simpson said his youth group handed over the cash after learning of the plight of parents unable to foot the bill for a new school blazer.More than 50 students had turned up wearing the wrong clothes on the day the new winter uniform was imposed earlier this month.Mr Simpson said he noticed a number of students at the principal’s office because they were in the wrong gear when he visited the school to see his ten-year-old son K’Zhai Bailey.“Skillz ‘n’ Drillz is about community awareness and doing the right thing, so when we saw they needed blazers at Dellwood we tried to help,” Mr Simpson told The Royal Gazette yesterday. He said principal Lisa Marshall had expressed her thanks for the gesture.Mrs Marshall has previously said the school is switching from maroon jackets to navy blue blazers to move in line with other schools. Some parents have complained it’s excessive to fork out for a new blazer as their children will only be at school for one more term; the school has offered to pay for families that can’t afford one.
