The island has recorded just two more cases of coronavirus out of 1,566 tests carried out over the weekend.

The result brought the number of active cases down to just 95 as a total of 41 people have recovered from the disease since Saturday, when the number of active cases stood at 134.

One of the latest cases was classed as an on-island transmission with a known contact as it is associated with a known case.

The second case – a resident with no identified links to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days – is under investigation.

A total of 91 of the active cases are under public health monitoring and four people are hospitalised, although none are in critical care.

Despite the continuing dip in the number of active cases, Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, highlighted that restrictions were still in force.

She said: “I need to remind everyone that the coronavirus restrictions, including the curfew, remain in place until the legislation is amended.

“They do not expire tonight. The Cabinet will review recommended changes to the restrictions at tomorrow’s meeting.”

Ms Wilson added that an update will be provided tomorrow.

Bermuda has recorded 624 cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic hit in March last year.

The number of people who have recovered is 519 and ten people have died.

The mean age of all confirmed cases is 43 and the age range is from less than one year to more than 100.

The mean age of active cases is 42 years and the age range is younger than ten to older than 80.

The mean age of fatalities linked to the coronavirus is 75.

A health department spokeswoman said the latest results saw six cases moved from under investigation to on-island transmission with an unknown contact.

The seven-day average of the real-time reproduction number is less than one – 0.60 – and Bermuda’s country status remained at “clusters of cases”.

The spokeswoman highlighted that travellers who landed in Bermuda without a pre-arrival test would be charged $300 at the airport.

She warned the public: “There are no refunds, so you are advised to plan ahead and carefully consider if you should be travelling at all.

“No person shall assemble in a group of more than ten persons for any reason in any public or private place.

“Although indoor ceremonies and services are limited to 20 per cent of the capacity of the church, this does not apply to receptions and wakes.

“A funeral service held outside at the grave site is limited to a maximum of ten persons.”
