‘Spotlight for a Cause’, this weekend’s charity concert in aid of crash victim Dion Ford, has been labelled a success by organisers.Cha’Von Clarke, the CEO of event management group CKC Corporation, described it as an “intimate-family affair” filled with bundles of touching moments. Mr Ford is a father-of-three who sustained serious internal injuries when he and his best friend, Lenario Simmons, were involved in a head-on crash in Hamilton Parish on Father’s Day.The 33-year-old was flown overseas for emergency surgery and treatment at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. He is now said to be in relatively good spirits while he continues to undergo treatment at that city’s Spalding Rehabilitation.Money raised from this weekend’s event and subsequent performances on August 13 and 27 and September 10 will go towards his medical expenses. She said CKC Corporation was hoping for an even greater turnout at the August 13 show at Whitney Institute Middle School hall. “We are really excited. We call that performance his birthday show because his birthday is on the 19th. The event will be dedicated to his birthday and we are going to have [a diverse range of artists] such as the Bermuda Institute Choir and the Gombeys. It’s going to be a really cool show.”Other performers for the upcoming show include: BLAC, Cami Cam, Freddie Mallory, Maurita Andre, Kombat, Calrico and Calvino Crichton, Bad Current, J-Swag and Y.B.E.Advance tickets are available for $15 at Kit & Caboodle.
