Senator Kim Wilson this morning fired back at claims Government is not leaving adequate time for debate on the Budget in the Senate.Earlier this week the UBP complained that Government was taking all but a few minutes of time allocated leaving no time for further debate or questions.However today, Sen Wilson said the opposition was responsible for scheduling the senate debates on the budget, and they had not allocated enough time to both cover the material and pose questions.Noting that the debate on Justice was scheduled to last 90 minutes and cover seven headings, she said: “It’s totally unrealistic. It took my colleague in the other house three hours.“I’m tempted to just move the heads but I’m afraid I would be accused of keeping things out of the public.”But Opposition Senate Leader Jeanne Atherden said the opposition was only alloted 22 hours in which to schedule the debate, while the House of Assembly had 56 hours to cover the same material.When the Senate broke for lunch this afternoon, Sen Wilson had covered four heads in around an hour. The debate will resume at 2.15pm with half an hour remaining and the Senator still to cover the remaining three heads.
