Johnson set to be released from prison
community after two decades in jail.
Chesterfield Johnson, now 46, was sentenced to death for the murder of 11-year-old Paget schoolgirl Connie Furtado, who was raped and strangled with her own school tie in 1978.
During the two-and-a-half week trial, a young woman testified that Johnson also threatened to strangle her with her tie when she was a student six years earlier.
And she said he stripped and sexually assaulted, but did not rape her.
Johnson to be freed The Supreme Court also heard Johnson was illiterate and had the mental age of a child.
And a psychiatrist said he was of subnormal intelligence and suffering from a psychopathic disorder.
Johnson's conviction was later reduced on appeal to manslaughter and the then-maximum sentence of 20 years.
It is understood that Johnson was released earlier this year on community work programmes.
And he is set to join Clevelyn Simmons and the Wood Shop Plus Programme upon full release.
