Yachtsman rescued
A sailor from Virginia was due to be brought into Bermuda this morning after his yacht Thee Generations had engine failure ten miles off Bermuda.
According to the duty officer at the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre, the 63-year-old was on his way to the Island and was due to arrive on Sunday.
When his wife didn't hear from him yesterday, she called the US Coast Guard who in turn called the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre.
The duty officer said: "When we didn't hear anything, we decided to launch a search to try and locate the vessel.
"At 4.30 p.m., I noticed a small radar contact from the southeast. The Logos Hope was in Hamilton and departed last evening.
"I asked them to go up in the direction of the small vessel."
The boat was located with the man alive. He was unable to go any further because of the bad weather and a failed engine.
He was due to arrive in St. George's at 1 a.m. today.
