Much ado for funds

Academy students, who have joined forces to raise funds for their physical education teacher and top running coach Duncan Newby, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer in the United States.

"An Evening with Shakespeare'' is being mounted on Saturday to raise money for Mr. Newby, who has coached such running stars as Kavin Smith, and is a former British champion swimmer and life saver. In addition to heading the physical education department at Warwick, he is a coach for the Dolphin Swim Team and for the Bermuda Master's Swim Team. He has also coached cyclists, triathletes, and even cricket teams. Jennifer Ingham, who is the Warwick Academy English teacher, explained the evening will include a catered dinner as well as the performance. The boys of the Warwick lower school will be performing the last act of A Midsummer-Night's Dream , while the girls will be performing A Merry Regiment of Women , a one act play where Shakespeare's heroines come together to launch an rebellion against Shakespeare's sexist view of women.

The fifth year students are reprising a scene from Much Ado About Nothing , which they performed in November. Tickets cost $20, and they are available from the Warwick Academy office, or from students.
