Call for Miss Teen Bermuda entrants
A televised beauty pageant aiming to instil a sense of confidence and dignity in the Island’s teens is searching for a new batch of young contestants. The Miss Teen Bermuda Islands Pageant, organised by Tee’l Productions, is recruiting for well-rounded young ladies to take part in its 10th anniversary year. The pageant is set to be held on August 7 at the Fairmont Southampton and will be hosted by past winners Whitney Morfitt and Sahshay Johnstone.Practices and orientation exercises will also be turned into a weekly television reality show that can be seen on Bermuda Sports Network channel 82. According to pageant organiser Terry Smith, the winner of Miss Teen Bermuda 2011 will receive a trip to St Kitts to compete in an international pageant.Former winner Alexa Lightbourne, who was crowned in 2007, placed second runner up in the Caribbean competition three years ago. Three teenagers have signed up so far for the 2011 spectacle and Mr Smith is hopeful a few more will opt to take part in the venture. He said most teenagers were suitable for it as judges were not necessarily looking for someone who seems perfect or stick thin.“We are looking for someone who is comfortable with themselves, who has an open mind and is looking forward to improving themselves and having a positive experience for the next six weeks.”He said girls of all sizes and shapes were welcome to sign up for the pageant, as long as they are between aged 13 and 18.l For more information or to sign up call Mr Smith on 337-5552 or e-mail tpl[AT]logic.bm before Thursday.
