Bermuda to face LMS's Rapids
Bermuda's senior national football team will now get the chance to measure up against a second Major League Soccer (MLS) team in less than a month at the National Sports Centre (NSC) next Friday when the Colorado Rapids come to town.
Bermuda Football Association (BFA) announced yesterday that the Rapids have agreed to play one match against the Islanders on their return from a pre-season tour of the UK - just weeks after MLS rivals New England Revolution jump started their own 2008 pre-season training schedule on local soil.
Bermuda went down 6-1 and 2-0 against the visiting Revs who stretched their unbeaten win streak at the NSC.
The Rapids, presently training at the Arsenal Training Centre, are due to begin arriving on the Island next Wednesday two-days prior to their one-off clash against their hosts.
The MLS side have played two matches in the UK, defeating Ipswich Town 3-2 before losing 2-1 against Arsenal's Reserves.
The Rapids will travel to Bermuda at full-strength delighted to have been given the opportunity to play another pre-season match before their March 29 season opener against the Los Angeles Galaxy who toured the Island last year.
Next week's international friendly will also provide another ideal opportunity for senior national team players and coaching staff to assess the preparations ahead of this month's crucial World Cup qualifying second leg clash with Cayman Island in the Caribbean.
Bermuda and the Caymans battled to a 1-1 draw at the NSC early last month.
