A young rising actress with Bermuda ties will make her debut on the NBC series ‘Law & Order SVU’ tonight.Tiffany Robinson, daughter of Bermudian Jackie Robinson, has been pursuing a career in acting and singing for the past eight years.The Fordham University graduate who resides in Brooklyn, New York, was selected to play the role of a celebrity girlfriend of an abusive entertainer in the show.The storyline is similar to the highly publicised physical abuse case of singers Rihanna and Chris Brown.The celebrity couple dominated entertainment news headlines in 2009 following a violent assault that split them apart on the eve of the Grammy Awards in 2009.Chris Brown was later convicted of assault and placed on probation for five years. The couple has reunited since then.Ms Robinson fondly recalled her Bermuda experience in a message she sent yesterday to family and friends. Although raised in Brooklyn she said she has “always had a special place in her heart for Bermuda”.“I have so many wonderful memories visiting family and friends, Bermuda has always been a place where I feel loved and perfect for a dreamer like myself; its like paradise,” she said.She added that she is “grateful for the love and support” she has received from relatives and friends in Bermuda over the years.Another relative, Mario Dismont said he was thrilled with his cousin’s success.“I guess I speak for all of her family here in Bermuda, we’re just over the top about it, we’re absolutely stunned and very pleased,” he said.“I’ve contacted all my relatives and friends to tell them the good news. It’s not often that we get to see a woman with Bermudian ties on a show of that magnitude.“I’m hoping it will inspire others here to pursue their dreams because there’s a wealth of talent in this small Country.”Mr Dismont was hopeful that “everyone will watch the show”.Tonight’s ‘Law & Order SVU’ is billed as a “powerful new episode”. The show airs on Bermuda CableVision’s NBC channel 98 at 10pm. The show will not be aired in its entirety on VSB TV 11, instead it will be joined in progress.A spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that in celebration of Black History month, DeFontes Broadcasting Co. Ltd. will be showing Tuskegee Airmen from 9pm to 10.45pm and will join NBC programming in progress following this special programme.”
