BHS principal honoured

Bermuda High School for Girls head of school Robert (Roy) B. Napier was recently awarded with the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal by the government of Canada.

The medal was awarded to mark the 50th anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty to the Throne on February 6, 1952.

Medals were awarded to people who made a significant contribution to either Canada, to their community or to their fellow Canadians. In the case of Mr. Napier, the medal was awarded to recognise his tremendous contribution in the field of education.

After spending 14 years as headmaster of Ashbury College in Ottawa, Canada, Mr. Napier assumed his position as head of the Bermuda High School for Girls in September, 2000.

Mr. Napier was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland but has lived and worked in Canada since 1970.
