Teacher stable after stabbing
last week is making a gradual recovery in hospital.
The 49-year-old victim received multiple chest and stomach wounds after disturbing a burglar who broke into his home on Second Avenue, Pembroke, in the early hours of last Thursday morning.
The victim's wife was also woken by the struggle and was dragged out of the house by the knifeman, who then returned inside to carry on his attack.
He finally fled on foot just before Police and neighbours arrived at the scene. His victim was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for emergency surgery.
Yesterday a hospital spokesman confirmed that the man was in a stable condition and resting comfortably in a general ward.
But Police would not say if they are any nearer catching the attacker. A Police spokesman would only confirm that the investigation was ongoing.
Anyone who may have information on the attack is asked to contact Police headquarters on 295-0011.

P.C. APPEALS DECISION CTS POL P.c. appeals decision The Policewoman who claimed another constable sexually harassed her has launched an appeal against a Board of Inquiry's dismissal of the charges.
Notice of the appeal was filed yesterday in the Supreme Court Registry and now follows two failed criminal investigations, a dropped internal Police inquiry, and the Human Rights Commission tribunal in March.
The pair cannot be named for legal reasons.
The woman, P.c. A, was described as devastated after tribunal chairman Tim Marshall said he could not believe she was sexually harassed in P.c. B's office.
He dismissed her case and said while he was satisfied something happened, the full truth may never be known.
The woman is represented by the law firm of Francis and Forrest.
CENTRE SET TO OPEN CLB GVT Centre set to open Sandys Parish residents should have a new community centre in less than a month, a Government official said yesterday.
"Our target date is May 17,'' Director of Youth, Sport and Recreation Brenton Roberts told The Royal Gazette . "This is not an indefinite thing.'' An estimated $500,000 was spent to convert the 18th Century Springfield on Middle Road, Sandys Parish into a facility for senior citizens and young people.
Renovations include counselling rooms, a basketball court and day-care facilities.
Construction delays pushed back an early April opening date, but Mr. Roberts was optimistic the development could be completed by the new schedule.
He said contractors are now in the final stages of painting, electrical, plumbing, flooring, and minor landscaping work at the Middle Road, Sandys site.
And the furniture for the site has already been ordered and is expected to arrive within coming weeks.
Government plans to take possession of the site by May 7.
Officials are also currently in the process of selecting technical and industrial staff for the centre.
