Premier leads by example in receiving Covid-19 vaccine
The Premier led the way in receiving his Covid-19 vaccine in public today, saying that it was important to encourage the whole community to take their shots and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
David Burt was joined in front of the cameras by Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, Cole Simon's, the Opposition leader, and Carika Weldon, government science advisor.
Ahead of receiving his shot, The Premier described the vaccine as "a significant milestone in the fight against this virus".
He added: "I cannot emphasise enough how important it is that we have this vaccine.
"We are doing this today as we feel that it is important to combat vaccine hesitancy, especially within the black community, that us as leaders are prepared to lead by example."
A total of 9,750 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines arrived on Friday - enough to vaccinate almost 5,000 people - and administration began today.
