Police name road crash victim

Police this morning named a 45-year-old man who died in a road crash yesterday as Aaron Smith, of St George'sMr Smith died after his motorcycle collided with a car on North Shore Road, Devonshire.He succumbed to his injuries while in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following the accident.Police say the motorcycle and car were both travelling along North Shore Road at about 2.20pm when they crashed, near to its junction with Cable Hill, at the entrance of Terceira's gas station.It did not appear the occupants of the car were injured.Just feet away from the scene of the accident, a wooden cross is placed in memory of cricketer Travis Smith, who died in a road crash there in July 2006.Mr Smith was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a car pulling into the service station, causing his bike to slide across the carriageway and throwing him into the hedges.And United Bermuda Party leader Kim Swan's wife Cindy was injured in an accident involving a car and a van on the same stretch of road in July 2009.Witness should telephone Pc Timothy Evelyn at the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.
