Data Tech slump to second straight defeat
Defending Senior Winter League champs Data Tech Netts slumped to their second league of the season in a make up match at Bernard Park earlier this week.Data Tech suffered their second defeat in less than 72 hours after losing 44-40 against league leaders New Life, who remain ahead of nearest rivals Young Men’s Social Club Lady Bluebirds on goal difference at the summit.Guiding New Life to their seventh league win of the season was the prolific Debbie DeShields who poured in a game-high 33 points while Wenda Roberts added 11.Denise Rawlins (18) and Gina Benjamin (15) combined for 33 points in a losing cause for Data Tech Netts who are currently third in the ten-team standings, some three points adrift of the leaders.Monday also saw Smooth and Easy Tigers sink their fangs in bottom side North Village Lady Rams Too. Tigers prevailed 50-17 thanks in no small part to Jahkenya Trott’s 31 points. Trott’s twin sister Jahtuere chipped in with 17 points to cap a memorable day for the family.Vernicka Symonds led the scoring for Lady Rams Too, who slumped to their eighth league loss of the season.Chalking up their second win of the season was Young Men’s Social Club Blazing Bluebirds who got past Devonshire Colts Warriors 46-37 in a high-scoring affair.Fredericka Samules led Blazing Bluebirds in the scoring department with 32 points while Stacey O’Brien poured in a game-high 35 points for Warriors, who have taken only three points from eight matches.The remaining make up fixture saw fourth placed North Village Lady Rams win by default over Warwick Pink Panthers.
