Man, 81, robbed in Hamilton

The elderly victim was returning to his car in the Par-la-Ville car park at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

He told Police he was gripped around the neck and had his wallet, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, pulled from his trouser pocket.

The assailant then pushed the man to the ground and escaped toward Church Street.

The victim was not seriously injured and described his assailant as about five feet tall, of medium build, and wearing blue overalls.

HOTEL BOOKINGS RISE TOU Hotel bookings rise Hotels had a successful February with occupancy levels reaching 36.4 percent -- an improvement on the previous two years.

And bookings for next month are also looking healthy, with more than half of hotel and cottage colony rooms already booked up by holidaymakers.

So far 54.1 percent of rooms have been booked for April -- a 4.5 percent increase on bookings at this time last year and a 6.4 percent rise on the year before.

CAR COLLIDES WITH WALL AC Car collides with wall Two men were injured when their grey Nissan Sentra collided with a wall in Paget on Sunday.

Police said the accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. when the driver attempted to make a right turn into Southcourt Avenue.

The 33-year-old driver suffered a broken left arm and nose bleed. His 31-year-old passenger injured the left side of his face and head. He was not believed to have required hospital treatment.

The car received roughly $2,000 worth of damage to the front end.

The driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

ROGERS STILL CRITICAL HTH Rogers still critical The 48-year-old man found unconscious in Southampton during the weekend remains in critical but stable condition.

A Police spokesperson yesterday said Conrad Rogers, of Mount Hill Mews, Pembroke, was still in the Intensive Care Unit of the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rogers was discovered some 50 yards east of Jews Bay dock, off Middle Road, Southampton around 10.45 p.m. on Saturday.

He sustained an injury to the back of his head, but Police still do not know how the injury was caused.

BIGGER LOUNGE PLANNED FLY Bigger lounge planned Airport chiefs have lodged a planning application to expand the taxi drivers' lounge by 101 square feet.

The renovations are schemed as part of a $20 million airport improvement project, including rebuilding the baggage hall and arrivals area, re-routing traffic and redesigning car parks.

FLIGHT TIMES CHANGE FLY Flight times change British Airways' schedule for this week's flights between London and Bermuda will be affected by daylight saving time, local manager Philip Troake announced yesterday.

For this week only, flights today and on Saturday will leave Bermuda at 6.40 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday at 6.10 p.m. Check-in for these flights will commence at 4 P.m.

Meanwhile flights from London will arrive at 3.35 p.m. today, Thursday and Saturday and at 3.50 p.m. on Friday.

BLAZE DAMAGES HOME FIR Blaze damages home An early morning fire caused some $50,000 worth of damage to a Devonshire home.

A bedroom on the second floor of the two-storey Rec View Lane house had the most damage, with heat and smoke damage throughout the house.
