Argus names Jones new secretary
Argus Group Holdings Ltd. has appointed George N.H. Jones as company secretary in place of David Pugh.
Mr. Pugh will continue as the insurer's chief financial officer, but has formally rescinded the additional responsibilities of company secretary.
Argus announced the appointment yesterday. It became effective on September 23.
Trading in Argus shares on the Bermuda Stock Exchange has been suspended, at the company's request, since August 2.
This came after an administrative error led to insufficient notice of the meeting being given to shareholders.
This plunged the company into a complex legal mess, but a Supreme Court order and an amendment of the Argus Insurance Company Act 1961 by Finance Minister Paula Cox has virtually solved the problem.
On Monday, Argus announced that its annual general meeting, which has been delayed from its orginal date of July 22, will now be held on November 8.
After the meeting it is expected that dividend payments and share trading will resume.
