Two men accused of a daylight robbery at knife-point of a payroll from a pensioner last week appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

The two were charged with stealing more than $11,000 from the 74-year-old man, who was carrying the wages for workers at the Coral Beach site.

Elvis Richardson, 19, of Devonshire and Messcha Ibel, 20, of Footbridge Lane in Pembroke, were charged with robbing Robert Seaman of $11,413.20 and being in possession of an offensive weapon on November 9.

Neither was required to enter a plea since the charges are indictable offences and require a Supreme Court trial.

Richardson, represented by lawyer Kim White, opted not to apply for bail and also pleaded not guilty to a traffic charge of driving without due care in August.

Ibel, represented by lawyer Patrick Doherty, applied for bail but was held in custody when it was revealed that he had $1,670 in unpaid traffic fines.

They will appear for mention later this month.
