Island to host Sustainable Tourism Development conference
Bermuda will host a Caribbean Tourism Organisation conference next year.
Yesterday it was announced that the 2011 Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development will beheld in April at the Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel.
Senator Marc Bean, Junior Minister of Tourism, attended this year's conference in Barbados and gave a presentation on next year's conference.
He said: "The conference was very productive, and proved to be a success. A high degree of excitement ensued once the participants were informed that we will be the host for next year."
More than 250 people from the Caribbean region, US, Canada and Europe attended this year's conference to discuss ways to design and implement sustainable tourism policies and programmes.
Director of Tourism William Griffith said: "I am delighted that Bermuda was chosen to host next year's conference. We at the Department of Tourism are confident that we will host a first-class conference and highlight our experience with sustainable development and tourism."
