Representatives from top Island resorts from around the world are expected to attend the four-day forum, aimed at addressing issues of concern to island resorts into the year 2000.

Presentations by Canadian, New Zealand, English and local university lecturers will cover issues of hospitality, nationalism and identity, profitability and sustainable development.

Forum founders, Mr. Michael Conlin and Dr. Donald Hawkins claim this year's event will be the basis for defining island tourism into the foreseeable future.

Organisers hope up to 100 participants will take part in the forum which aims to be both "academically rigorous and practically useful''.

The forum is sponsored by the Centre for Tourism Research and Innovation together with the International Institute of Tourism at George Washington University, the Bermuda Department of Tourism, Elbow Beach Hotel, Stonington Beach Hotel and the Hospitality and Culinary Institute of Bermuda.

For further information contact Ms Patricia Trott at the Bermuda College at 236-9000 for registration forms.
