KRyS Global has announced the appointment of Carla Colbourne as a senior analyst to its Bermuda office, which was officially opened in May this year.In her new role, Ms Colbourne, a Chartered Accountant, will support the management team and be responsible for performing day-to-day investigations and analysis for corporate recovery, forensic and insolvency assignments for clients from various industries, including reinsurance and hedge funds. She will report to the managing director.Ms Colbourne brings more than seven years of experience to the KRyS Global team, most recently from the insurance division of a ‘Big Four’ firm in Bermuda, where she held the role of audit senior. In this role, she worked for a wide variety of re/insurance clients, including captive insurance entities and subsidiaries of the US Securities and Exchange Commission entities, incorporating all classes of property and casualty business. During this time, she gained experience in US GAAP, Canadian GAAP and IFRS reporting. She also worked with the company’s advisory department preparing monthly bankruptcy filings.Prior to this, Ms Colbourne held the position of accountant, and latterly senior accountant, at a large international accounting firm in St John’s and Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. These roles involved audit review and compilation engagements, along with corporate and personal tax returns and internal audit work for a wide range of industries, including government entities, retail businesses, construction firms and not-for-profit organisations.She earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland.Patrick McPhee, managing director of the Bermuda office, KRyS Global, said: “Carla’s appointment represents an important growth milestone for the Bermuda office, which was officially launched just five months ago. Carla’s audit experience gained with a ‘Big Four’ accountancy firm in Bermuda’s reinsurance industry will be an important asset as we focus upon new business development for the newest office in the KRyS Global network.”In her spare time, Ms Colbourne is a keen runner and has competed in a number of road running races, finishing third in the Bermuda Triangle event at the International Race Weekend in January this year. She is currently training for the 2011 New York Marathon.
