Four local students were awarded funding for their educational pursuits.The Devonshire Parish Council announced Teleza Pitcher as its 2012 $5,000 scholarship winner, and Kascia White, David Thomas and Wendell Tre Ming as the recipients of bursaries.Ms Pitcher is a student at Howard University, Ms White at St Mary’s University, Mr Thomas at Ohio State University and Mr Ming at Elmira College.The students are pursuing degrees in the sciences, liberal arts and engineering.The Devonshire Parish Council praised the scholars for their achievements.A spokeswoman said: “The Devonshire Parish Council sees great value in investing into the educational pursuits of its younger residents.“The Devonshire Council wishes its recipients continued success in their academic and extra-curricular pursuits.”The bursary amounts were not given.
