Luxe Salon, the Hamilton beauty salon that opened in November, officially launched its website and mobile app on Friday evening at a special celebratory event.

The salon’s mission is that clients ‘Get luxed’, and to that end, the stylists at the 20 Reid Street salon, who are all local professionals, have more than four decades of experience between them, having trained at Toni&Guy in the United Kingdom, as well as the famous Regis and L’Oréal salons, and in Bermuda.

Owner and chief executive officer Makeda Goater “basically wanted to provide affordable, quality hair care in a comfortable environment”, said spokesman Jodi Lewis. In addition, there is a make-up specialist on the staff, as well as a nail technician “to make sure clients look their very best”, says Ms Goater in a video on their website.

Ms Lewis said that in addition to the app, which she described as “easy to use” and “fun” with the ability to upload before and after photographs of a client’s new hairstyle, they also have a customer loyalty programme.

The community-oriented Luxe Salon is also in partnership with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters charity, and donates $2 from each appointment towards back-to-school cuts and styles for students in September.

A press release announcing the launch said: “The salon has exceeded expectations, and takes pride in its community programmes and continuous discounts for seniors. It has also been featured on Bermydeals.com, offering economically friendly discounts and savings. In addition, the salon was selected to be featured in This Week in Bermuda’s ‘12 Steps To A New You’.”

Luxe is also planning a ‘Take to the Streets’ campaign in March and April, when their make-up artist will be offering make-up sessions right on the street. “It will be in your face, energetic, visual, and young,” said Ms Lewis.
