Max appoints underwriting chief for marine division

Michael Miller has joined Max Specialty Insurance Company as chief underwriting officer of its newly formed marine division.

Max Specialty is the US-based E&S platform of Bermuda's Max Capital Group.

Stephen J. Vaccaro, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Max Specialty Insurance Company, said: "We are pleased to welcome Mike Miller, an industry veteran with thirty-four years of marine insurance experience, as chief underwriting officer of Max Specialty's marine division.

Mike shares our values, our dedication to sound underwriting, and our commitment to providing outstanding service to our customers. As the marine division's chief underwriting officer, he will play a key role in our efforts to establish Max Specialty as a major provider of both inland and ocean Marine products."

Mr. Miller, 55, said: "Max Specialty is off to a great start as an emerging leader in the E&S business. I look forward to working with the Max Specialty team to offer our clients great products and services, and to help take Max Specialty to the next level."

He began his career at Wm H. McGee & Co., in 1973 and has since held several marine insurance-related management positions including, most recently, senior vice president and chief underwriting officer of Fireman's Fund Insurance Company's Specialty business unit.
